Valley Gardens Harrogate

Here's a list of my 6 top picks of places around Wetherby and Harrogate for some chill time after your counselling session.

Any type of relationship counselling session can leave you drained. Wether you are going as a couple or on your own. You have poured your heart out in a session, perhaps cried or felt fearful of the future.

But the counsellnig space feels safe and you feel supported by your counsellor. You feel heard and even manage to have a laugh.

Then your time ends and even though you have closed your relationship counselling session safely it feels you are catapulted straight back into the stress of life.

On occassions your head may be spinning from thoughts of the changes you are going to implement. Or you may not able to concentrate.

I appreciate we are all busy and often end up juggling far too much. But I think what we do straight after after your relationship counselling session is crucial.

Taking 5, 10, 20 mins out after your session and grounding yourself back into the world can really be beneficial.

If you have visited me at my private practice in Wetherby town centre .... you may have to rush straight off back to work, the kids or your partner.

Being out in nature or going for a coffee on your own can ground you and just bring a sense of calm whilst you process your thoughts and go back to the real world.

  • Henshaws Art & Crafts, 50 Bond End, Knaresborough, North Yorkshire,HG5 9AL You can explore the accessible facilities including their cafe, shop, woodland walk and outdoor spaces. If you fancy a walk in their sensory garden to re-connect with your senses, grab a coffee in their cafe. Their shop is a great place to find an original card or present – and you’ll be helping to support their work as it is a social enterprise. The hustle and bustle of this creative hub would be more suited to extroverts who prefer a busy environment to refocus their thoughts after a relationship counselling session.

  • Rossett Nature Reserve, Harrogate HG2 9EH. For some fresh air and maybe space to scream out loud head towards Rossett Nature Reserve, its a small site (1.75ha), featuring ponds, grassland and scrub. It is situated in south-west Harrogate, between the playing fields of adjacent schools, towards the edge of an extensive 1980s/90s housing development. But not too loud - the site is designated as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) on the basis of the importance of its amphibian populations, especially great crested newts! Taking in the calmness of the nature reserve could just be the tonic needed after an intense psychotherapy session. Giving you a space to breath.

  • The Valley Gardens, Harrogate, Valley Dr, Harrogate HG1 2SZ is a 17-acre English Heritage Grade II listed garden in regal Low Harrogate, next to the Pinewoods woodlands. It includes beautiful historic buildings, such as the Sun Pavilion and colonnades, which sit alongside a wide variety of shrub, flower and herbaceous beds. So perhaps a cheeky ice cream while you ground yourself after your counselling session?

  • Scaur Bank, Linton Rd, Wetherby LS22 6SD. If you feel you may want to reignite your inner child their are plenty of playgrounds in Wetherby you could wonder down to after your therapy session. Scaur Bank included. Just try not to get stuck up the spider climbing net!

  • Don't Tell The Duke, 6-8 Bank Street, Wetherby, LS22 6NQ. Break out of routine, don’t worry about your diet, your job, or the hangover the next day. Just head over to Don’t Tell The Duke to unwind and get treated like royalty. Sometimes being grown up is just what you need. Counselling sessions can be draining .. this quirky little hideout makes it the perfect spot to disappear to for some me time.

  • Art From The Heart, Studio 4 - The Zone, Hornbeam Park Ave, Harrogate, Yorkshire, HG2 8QT. For some getting stuck into something creative is the only way after psychotherapy. Creative means are a great way to express our subconscious. This place is treasure trove of creative ideas & supplies, its run by Mixed Media Artist Dyan Reaveley.
