Counselling For Young People

Working at Bradford University Counselling services my role took me to working with young adults from Bradford University and nearby Bradford College. I now provide private counselling, psychotherapy and coaching for young people  from year 7 upwards to University and Emerging/ Transitioning Adults.

It is important to recognise each young person as a unique individual. It is easy for adults to get swept away with stereotypes such as "all teenagers are moody". It is my job to view each young person as a unique individual and work with them to help understand themselves better.

As well as an exciting time -  in many young people's lives it can also be tainted with internal and external pressures which can bring about anxiety, depression, poor relationships, anger and breakdown in communication.

Whether  it be with themselves, family, friendship groups or environmental factors such as alcohol, drugs, social media - it can be a confusing time for young people.

I am very interested in the types of relationships we have and how they affect our lives. We can't get away from relationships. Whether for a young person it be a relationship with their Xbox, Snapchat, parents, siblings or school dinners. These unique relationships are important to each individual differently and affect us in many ways.

I am passionate about helping young people improve the relationships in their lives. This helps them grow by increasing their self awareness through helping them understand themselves better.
